You're welcome!

Most of our visitors are finding us through Google, with around 25 to 50 clicks every day. We're also getting some traffic from Reddit, about 10 to 25 clicks daily.

That's fantastic! Keep up the good work! :)

Update, Day: 34 Total articles posted so far: 77 (+6)

Today, we added 6 more articles.

I'm starting to run low on ideas for keywords, and it's tough to manage both projects while focusing on keywords. I'll have to research keywords while writing articles... Wish me luck... I think my upcoming 15-day break will be filled with 12-hour workdays.

But I'm not really complaining. I'm determined to reach my goal as quickly as I can, no matter what it takes.

I really want to figure out how tools generate Google's auto-suggest results. If I can understand that, I'll create my own keyword tool. The problem is, I'm not sure how they do it. Is there a Google API for that? I'm not sure... I could do it the slow way by using automation software like Selenium to type each word, but that's really slow and not what I want.

An API or something similar would be much faster, like 100 times faster.

I need a way to get thousands of keywords, whether they have searches or not. I can sort that out later to find the ones with searches. If anyone knows of any free tools that could help, please let me know.

Ranking Update:

We've made big progress! Over 60 keywords are now ranking. Many of the keywords that still aren't in the top 100 are the ones that haven't been there since we started. I'll review them and see if I used them too much in the content.
Yesterday, we got our first 50 clicks from Google each day! But today, things are moving slower.

Update, Day: 35 Total articles posted so far: 79 (+2)

I wrote 2 new articles today. Didn't write much because I had other things to do.

I spent a lot of time researching keywords. Here's what I found:

  • 43 informational keywords with search volumes between 100 and 999.
  • 14 "best xxx" keywords.
  • 22 "xxxx Review" keywords for my second website. These had search volumes between 10 and 100. (All products are worth between $400 and $1000, so I think it's worth it.)

We could have found even more keywords if we counted the ones with zero searches, but for now, I want to focus on going after slightly tougher ones. I'll call this the "2nd Content Push," which will target the 43 Informational Keywords. Later on, we can compare if having around 85-90 articles from the first push (with 0-100 searches) brought more traffic compared to the 43 Informational Keywords (with 100-1000 searches). We'll also compare their rankings.

I added Cloudflare to my website, but it caused some issues because of old DNS records. It took about 6 hours for me to notice and fix it.

I managed to improve the site speed significantly. Hopefully, Google Search Console will stop giving me errors about the site taking too long to load.

We now have 4 keywords ranking in the top 3 positions. It's been 2 weeks since we last got a new keyword in the top 3. It feels great!

Update, Day: 36 Total articles posted so far: 83 (+4)

I finished writing 4 more articles today. Honestly, I'm almost done with the keywords that show people are ready to buy. These last few are about a new topic I recently discovered, and it's really frustrating to write about. I know very little about it, just like Jon Snow knows nothing! And I hate it, which is why I only managed to write 4 articles today. I could have easily done 8 for my usual topics, but I want to finish this quickly so I can start planning the next set of articles.

I didn't do much else for this website today. I spent most of my time scraping over 1,000 articles for my other project. Along the way, I fixed some errors and helped my girlfriend with some things. Hopefully, I'll be more productive tomorrow and maybe finish those challenging keywords.
I really want to start focusing on informational keywords and make money through ads like AdSense, Ezoic, Mediavine, or AdThrive. But after looking at different experiences on forums like BHW, it seems like you need at least 50,000 users per month to earn around $1,000. That's about 1,666 unique visitors per day, which is quite a lot of traffic and not easy to achieve. (Even my old website, which earned $1,000 to $2,000 with Amazon, never came close to that many visitors...)
So, I'm feeling a bit discouraged seeing those huge numbers needed to make $1,000 per month. But I'm not giving up. I'd rather write 4 to 6 articles a day and earn $1,000 to $2,000 per month than work a regular 9-to-5 job for eight hours a day.

I totally get where you're coming from.

I have some Amazon sites that make x,xxx bucks every month with a few thousand visitors. So, when I started an ad site, I thought it was gonna be a tough road and maybe not even worth it... but...

Keep at it, especially with those "info" keywords!

I've got an info site with Ezoic. I just kept working hard on info articles, and the traffic started going up pretty fast. Now I'm getting around 300 unique visitors a day, making about 10 bucks daily.

Please don't throw in the towel. There's a ton of potential with ad sites, especially if you focus on creating content with a different mindset about keywords.

You can write about pretty much anything related to your niche!

Anyway, best of luck - I'm rooting for you on this journey.

You're welcome! 😊

Yeah, I'm definitely not giving up. My goal is to reach $2k a month with both Amazon and informational keywords, so I don't have to rely solely on Ads. I'm pretty sure Amazon will do most of the heavy lifting.

Hopefully, the site will really take off in about 3 to 4 months once it's a bit older and more keywords start ranking, including the longer ones. It's pretty amazing that I'm already getting 50 clicks a day from Google just one month into this site. That's something! I've made a lot of other sites before, and it never happened this fast. (Though to be honest, about 70% of it is because of some keywords that show 0 searches, but I know they'll have between 300 to 1000. They're just new products that people haven't caught onto yet, so there's low competition but lots of searches. <<< That's a good tip for everyone reading! 😄)

Don't let setbacks bring you down. Even if things aren't going perfectly, having a project underway can spark new ideas and opportunities for the future! Congrats on your journey—I've been taking notes from your experiences. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute something valuable to our MMO community soon!

Update, Day 37:
Total articles posted: 84 (+1)

I only wrote one article today. I found a keyword that I unintentionally ranked for with a different article. Surprisingly, it was getting a lot of clicks and had a high ranking even though I wasn't targeting it directly (it was at #11 without any focus). I decided to write an article specifically for that keyword.

Honestly, I'm ditching those other keywords I've been avoiding writing about. Sure, they might make some money, but I hate writing about stuff I couldn't care less about. So, I'm skipping them altogether.

Before diving into the second content push (around 45 informational articles, ranging from 100 to 1000 searches per month each), I decided to check the rankings of the case study. It's been two weeks since we last checked, so I wanted to see how it's going now.

Here are today's rankings for the case study:
image 1.webp
Around 90% of the keywords got better, and at least 70% of them are now in the top 20 search results.

My takeaways: You can rank even if you have some similar content. You can rank with short content (some posts were as short as 200-250 words). You can rank with content that's completely rewritten. However, you can't rank well if you cram lots of different products into one article by just mentioning them a bunch of times. That didn't work out.

This makes me even more confident that my strategy is on the right track.
Write a short article of 200-400 words for your keyword, publish it, and move on to the next keyword. Once you've finished all the keywords, circle back and focus on improving the posts that have gained a decent ranking. This not only identifies low-competition keywords but also saves time by avoiding the need to write lengthy articles for difficult-to-rank keywords, which might not rank well anyway. Plus, it helps all your posts get out of the "sandbox" much faster.

I decided to update all the articles that have achieved good rankings so far, adding more content and enhancing the on-page SEO optimization by adjusting keyword percentages. I'm also revising all articles not ranking in the top 100 because many of them seem to be overly optimized, which might be why they're not ranking well (unintentional over-optimization, oops!).

Today, I updated four articles. Surprisingly, it takes much longer to improve each one than it does for me to write a new 400-500 word article from scratch.

How do you decide if the competition is tough? Do you look at their website strength and the links they have? Or do you just target keywords that no one's searching for on Google?

How do you decide if the competition is tough? Do you look at their website strength and the links they have? Or do you just target keywords that no one's searching for on Google?

Here's my process:

First, I type "Allintitle:Keyword" into Google. If there are fewer than 10 results, that's perfect. If there are more than 10, but they're mostly from forums like Reddit or Quora, it's still good to go.

Next, I search the keyword on Google without the "Allintitle" restriction and check the top 3 results. If they aren't targeting the exact same keyword and aren't super high authority sites (with a domain authority of 40 or higher), I'll go for the keyword.

Both conditions need to be met. If even one fails, I skip the keyword.

Maybe I'll try harder keywords later, but for now, it's not worth the time.
