Hi everyone,

I’ve been selling on Amazon since about 2022. This last year was my strongest so far, with around $565K in sales.

It was not simple at all. I made a lot of mistakes, had products fail, and worked many late nights. But by sticking with it and learning as I went, I built a six-figure business that once felt impossible.

If you want to know how it went or what helped me (and what didn’t), feel free to ask. I’m happy to share.

What things really helped, and what things failed?
What do you need to get started?

Nice job on doing so well! I hope you hit that big money goal soon 😄

I’m just curious—how much of what you make do you actually keep as profit?

Yeah right, so you expect someone to post this and explain everything so others can copy them? That doesn’t make sense, no normal person would do that.

I don’t think it’s super easy to just copy a product.
You can’t really grab it and sell it exactly the same without some work.

Are you selling your own brand stuff or buying in bulk?
About how much money did you start with?
Do you pay for ads to sell your products?
How much do you actually make from each sale?

How much money do you make from this? And how many people work with you?

What do you think about making money by sharing Amazon links?

Hi Fanny! I’ve been selling on Amazon since 2023 too. My best month so far was about €12,800. I’m working hard and hope to reach results like yours someday. Nice job, by the way! I sell in the Europe market. If I ever have questions, is it okay if I ask you?

What helped me most was picking products people truly want and that aren’t too hard to compete with, while keeping shipping easy. What did not help was jumping on trendy items and not paying attention to profit. I had 2 or 3 mistakes before I learned that lesson. I’m happy to explain the simple plan I use now if you want to know more.

How much I make depends on the item, but most of the time I keep about 64–71% after paying for ads, shipping, and other costs. It’s not fast money, but it lasts and keeps getting better. If anyone wants, I can show the money breakdown for one product to explain how it works.

Nice work, you did a great job.

Appreciate it!

Yes, I agree.

I mostly sell my own brand because I like being in charge of the look and the price. I tested wholesale at the start, but building my own brand grew better for me. Both ways have good and bad parts, but this one fit what I wanted more.

How much money do you make from this? And how many people work with you?

I keep about 64–71% of what I make. I also work with 3 helpers who support me.

What do you think about making money by sharing Amazon links?

Some products and services pay better than others when you share links and earn a reward.

That’s a solid beginning. The US usually makes the most money, so think about trying to reach that market too.

Hello,

Can you explain more about the ads part? Do you use ads from Amazon?

I really want to know how ads work when you first start selling something. Do you need to run ads all the time at the start? Or after a while, can you stop ads and just get free traffic from search and regular customers?

If one item costs about $5–7 to make (not including shipping or ads), how much money would you spend at the beginning to promote it?

Also, how many different products are you selling right now?

Yes, I use Amazon PPC every time I launch a new product. In the start, ads really matter because:

  • You need early views and sales to help your product show up higher.
  • Ads give the system data like clicks and sales.
What I usually do:

  • I start with auto and broad campaigns to collect info.
  • After that, I move to exact match and the keywords that work best.
  • I know the first 1–3 months might only break even or even lose a little money, but that’s okay if my product moves up in search.
When the product ranks for its main keywords, I lower the ad budget, but I don’t turn ads off fully. I always keep a small campaign running because other sellers can take your spot fast if you rely only on organic traffic.

For me, ads are not just a short push — they are a long-term growth tool.

For a product that costs about $4–6 to get shipped, here’s a simple plan:

  • First order: Around 280–520 units (enough to test without risking too much).
  • Inventory money: About $1,400–3,100 depending on the minimum order.
  • Other expenses: Packaging/branding $190–520, pictures and listing content $210–480.
  • Ads/testing: At least $950–1,100 for PPC to help the launch.
So, realistically, starting with around $3,100–5,200 is a safe budget for one product at this cost. You could spend less, but it makes it harder to grow if it becomes popular.

I like to keep my product list small but making good money. Right now, I focus on 4-7 main products that bring in most of the sales, along with a few versions of each. For me, it’s not about having 100 items—it’s about growing the few that really sell.

When I tried adding too many products at the start, I ended up overwhelmed. Now, I’d rather pick one strong product and expand it with different versions, bundles, and new places to sell.

How much money did you earn in your first year?
In my first year, I was mostly figuring things out. I earned about $36,500 in sales, but didn’t keep much because I put almost everything back into trying new products, ads, and stock.

How many items altogether played a part in this?

Thank you for replying.

What apps or programs do you use to check keyword positions on Amazon?

To be real, starting with about $5.2k usually isn’t enough. Sometimes the item might not sell well, and you may need to change to a different product. But even when things go really well, there can still be problems. For example, if the product ranks fast and gets lots of sales every day, you could run out of stock quickly and then wait a long time for the next shipment.

The best move is to order more inventory as soon as sales start rising. But that means you’ll need more money than the first $5.2k, because the order size will be bigger.

In my opinion, if you want to begin with a simple $4.3–$6.4 product, it’s safer to have around $15.5k–$20.5k ready. This helps cover possible losses or sudden fast growth.

Yes, $5.1k is pretty tight, and I agree that around $14–19k makes things a lot safer if something fails or if sales grow very fast. But I also don’t think new sellers should feel like they must start with that much money.

With about $3.2–$5.3k, you can still try out one product and see if people want to buy it. If it starts doing well, you can use the money you earn to grow bigger later.

In the end, it really depends on your plan. Are you just trying to test a product first, or do you want to grow fast right from the start?

Do you buy items from Temu or other shops and sell them again? Which types have worked well for you—gadgets, clothes, yard stuff, or something else?

Wow, $560k is crazy! How many different products are you selling to reach that?
