Alright, so I’m older than most of you, but after 12 years away from affiliate marketing and working in retail, I decided to get back into it since I have more money to invest. Back in the day, we were promoting skincare and using cloaking, but now I’m trying to go with a white-hat approach. I’ve got a guy who helped me set up an agency ad account. I’m paying 8% to use it, and so far, it hasn’t caused any issues with rejected campaigns.
I’ve been reading in forums where marketers say they see good results once Facebook’s algorithm ‘learns’ your best audience by being a bit broad with targeting. I decided not to narrow down audiences and let Facebook ‘learn’ over time. I’m not sure if that’s the best approach, but the initial results look decent. The offer I’m running is a diabetes VSL offer from Buygoods, which pays $135 per sale.
The first month had some ups and downs, testing lots of landing pages and creatives, with a daily budget of around $95. After spending about $2,800, we got 3 conversions. Then, last week, out of nowhere, we got 2 conversions in one day. So, I upped the daily budget to $450, but for the next 3 days, I got nothing. This week, I changed my redirect link to a subdomain, thinking Facebook might not like that type of link for obvious reasons.
"Our audience is pretty broad, targeting males and females between 48 and 77 years old. Our ad testing has been pretty thorough, running about 4–9 creatives a day. We’ve got our creatives set up with a CTR just over 4%, and CPC around $0.35–$0.42. The strange part is that we get a lot of people adding items to the cart, like dozens of visitors, but no conversions. I’ve never had so many people visit the cart and not complete a purchase. Back in the day, for every 9 people who went to the cart, at least 1 would convert. Now, I’m wondering if there are other diabetes offers I could test, or if anyone here has suggestions. I’m stuck, and while I did enjoy the old days of cloaking, I’m not looking to go down that road again, especially with all the new AI stuff and lawsuits going on. Is white-hat VSL affiliate marketing even possible on Facebook these days? Thanks in advance!
