Hello everyone,

New year, new journey, right? Well, not exactly. I purchased a fresh domain and launched this niche site on November 25th, so it's been a little over a month. I'm slightly ahead of schedule with some content already live on the search engine results page (SERP), even though the site is still in its early stages.

This isn't my first foray into Internet Marketing. I've undertaken various projects in the past, experienced numerous failures, and eventually found success in the well-known dropshipping business with Facebook and Google ads (close to 6 figures). However, I'm now transitioning away from these business models, seeking something more sustainable, and in pursuit of genuine passive income.

THE IDEA

Henceforth, I'll be chronicling the entire journey of my niche site, with the hope that it can serve as both a helpful guide and a source of inspiration for others to take action! The primary objective is to reach the $1000/month milestone. My monetization strategy involves utilizing Ezoic, affiliate products, and potentially incorporating e-books.

It's essential to note that this niche is subject to seasonality, with lower activity during the winter and a notable spike in mid-summer.

Stay tuned for weekly updates detailing the progress in word counts and insights from Google Search Console.

What I did so far:

Publish 86 posts
Completed the entire website
Strategize keywords for the month of January

How I work
Content creation:

I produce all the content independently. I'm already generating income through freelancing and small businesses, allowing me a considerable amount of free time. My baseline goal is to publish a minimum of 2 articles per day. On days when I'm motivated, I can even publish up to 6 articles in a single day (yes, I'm putting in a lot of effort).

Strategy:

Focusing on low-competition, low-volume keywords with unfavorable SEO search results (including user-generated content, forums, Quora on the first page...). Creating articles around 900 words to target these keywords. Occasionally, I go beyond; some articles are nearly 2000 words, while others are around 700 words.

Keyword Research:

I manually search for keywords, utilizing Google autocomplete queries and KeywordEverywhere, specifically targeting low-volume and low-competition terms. This involves identifying search results with lower quality SERPs, such as user-generated content, forum posts, Quora, Pinterest, on the first page.

I typically plan keywords in advance. Here's an overview of what my keyword tracking sheet looks like:

How do you plan to get out of the Google sandbox?
Consistently pushing out content for six months straight might help me gain traction quite effectively. I just need to allow the site to age a bit, considering it's a new domain.

When you plan keywords ahead for the entire month, do you aim to write one article per keyword, or do you attempt to target multiple keywords within a single article?

Yes, I plan keywords for the next two weeks, or sometimes even the entire month. I assign one keyword per article and then interlink articles with related topics.

Thanks for letting me know! I’ve spent the last few weeks researching how to interlink a new site, and it seems more time-consuming than high-tech, which suits my current skill set. Do you have any tips or thoughts on how you approach interlinking?

Thanks!

I use a plugin called Link Whisper.

Best of luck! I'm in the same situation.
Thanks! Good luck to you too! What have you been up to? :)

That's great to hear! Promising first results, especially for a new domain. Keep at it! :)

Great start! I'm eager to see how you progress. Wishing you the best of luck!

Thank you! This is my first time creating a site like this, so I'm not entirely sure, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it!

Thanks! I'll provide updates every Sunday. :)

It's great to connect with another like-minded individual! I'm excited to see how your strategies unfold and contribute to your growth.

Good luck! ;)

Incredible progress reaching 100 posts so quickly!

I launched my first site just a few days after you, but I'm nowhere close to that number of posts!

Wishing you all the best! I’m excited to follow your updates and hopefully pick up some tips along the way.

I'm following this thread—wishing you the best of luck! Your determination is inspiring, and it's the most important factor for success.

I looked into it, and it seems awesome—thank you so much! We should get a few people who are on their own writing journeys to join in and have a word count race for February. It would keep us all super busy and add a bit of fun to the mix. Plus, we could make the competition more interesting...

The winner gets a $5 Blockbuster gift card and a fine vintage bottle of their preferred Alizé flavor.

*Participants must be over 21 and have access to a functional time machine to redeem the gift card. We are not liable for any blackouts or disruptions in the space-time continuum.

Cheers!

Yeah, I'm aiming for 2 posts a day. It really adds up over time; I just need to keep the momentum going! ;)

Thanks, buddy! Yep, I’m on it—my goal is to hit 400 posts by May 31st.

Yeah, they are! Haha, that would be wild. In the EU, you just need to be over 18 for this kind of stuff.

UPDATE #2
01/17/21

Added 14 more posts (posting twice daily, with weekly updates).
Reached 110k words.
Got 2 clicks for the past two days—nothing too exciting yet. Currently, about 80 keywords are in the top 100, with only 2 or 3 in the top 10. Rankings are gradually improving! :)

I’ll be researching additional keywords since some from my last research are still quite competitive, with many sites targeting those exact terms.

If you notice any details I might have missed, please let me know!

Following your progress—seems like you're doing great!
Quick question: Are you planning to do any link building?

Staying consistent! Nope, I’m not focusing on link building. In my opinion, it takes too much time, and you can still rank high by targeting low-competition keywords.

Congrats on your steady progress! Would you mind sharing some tips for total newbies in blog writing? For instance, what plugins do you consider essential when starting or building a niche blog?

Do you rely solely on your previous experience in internet marketing, or do you use other learning resources like YouTube, Udemy, or BHW?

I’m really curious because you’ve inspired me to start my own blog. Thanks in advance! 😊

That’s awesome, man—just go for it! Here’s my best shot at answering your questions:

For plugins, here’s what I use:

Bing Webmaster URL Submission
Classic Editor
Instant Indexing (from RankMath plugin)
Jetpack
Post Views Counter
Rank Math SEO Pro
Really Simple SSL
Resize Image After Upload
Smush
WP Autoterms
WP Rocket
WP Word Count
WP Optimize Premium
Honestly, I could manage without most of them, but Rank Math SEO is crucial since it helps optimize each blog post for search engines.

As for learning, I’m always picking up new things. I don’t rely solely on past experience (which was more about paid ads and eCommerce). I listen to the Authority Hacker podcast during my commutes and am part of a Discord group where we share experiences and tips about blogging. It’s a great way to stay motivated and keep learning about SEO. Just be cautious about following too many sources—there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there, and it can drive you crazy trying to keep up with everyone.

Since I’m not focusing on link building, I don’t follow those who emphasize it, except for Authority Hacker. 😄
