Hey there, I'm kinda new around here.

I saw someone talking about how people really want old eBay accounts, and it got me curious. Why are these older accounts such a big deal?

Also, how do folks even use them once they buy one?

If you know any post or place that explains it, feel free to drop a link. Thanks a bunch!

That’s because they don’t get shut down as fast as brand-new accounts usually do.

People trust them more — both eBay and the folks who might buy from you.

Old seller accounts that haven’t sold anything yet aren’t really better than newer ones.

People want old accounts because they’re scared their listings might get taken down, but honestly, old and new accounts are pretty much the same.

What really matters is what kind of stuff you're trying to sell.

That’s because they usually don’t get banned when you try to post a digital item!

eBay shows the registration date in a visible spot, right under the feedback score on the profile page. I’m pretty sure it’s not just me, but I’d prefer to buy from someone who registered a few years ago (even if they have no feedback) rather than someone who just signed up and has zero feedback. Once a seller has some feedback, the age of the account isn’t as important to buyers, but until then, it’s the next best thing after the feedback score.

I understand the trust factor for both buyers and eBay. But the real question is, why are people buying eBay seller accounts in bulk?

It's simple. They’re selling them to other eBay sellers.
