Hey,
I’m trying to run an SMS campaign for a casino, but I’m having some issues. I’m using an SMS provider and HLR to check the numbers, but something doesn’t seem right.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
  • Bought data
  • Run it through HLR
  • Split it for 4 brands and 4 creatives
  • Sent SMS to the active numbers
But my results aren’t great, and I feel like I’m just wasting money.
  • DLR: 89%
  • CTR: 1-2% on average
  • Click-to-Lead: 0% (almost nothing)
What do you think I’m doing wrong? What could I improve?
Is the data the problem? Should I try to find a higher-quality source? Or is it the creative that’s not working? What exactly needs to change?

You should improve your ad design because your click-through rate is lower than usual.

Once your CTR goes up, you'll get more leads.

Thanks. I just want to clarify something.
This is cold data, so how can I tell if the problem is with the creative and not the data quality?
What’s the usual CTR for cold campaigns in the industry?

In my view, to run a successful SMS campaign for your casino, focus on targeting the right audience, create clear offers, choose the best times, review the results to make changes, and make customer support a priority.

Thanks for the response.
But, I’m the affiliate, not the casino owner, so I can’t focus on customer support.

Hey,
Which geos do you work with?
I run SMS traffic, and sometimes it really depends on the geo.
Also, the database is really important.

I started in the UK, and from what I know, people there are really responsive to SMS, especially for gambling.
I agree with you about the database. It’s really important. But I trusted the person I got the data from.
Maybe it’s not perfect, but how would I know?

How did you test the SMS landing rate with real phone numbers? The carriers might block the messages.

Do you have the current number? Just to make sure the route is active. Sometimes there can be fake deliveries. Also, from what I’ve learned, it's better to test a few routes before starting the whole campaign.

What do you mean? I gave the design to my operator, and they set up the routes for me. I can see the delivery rates on the platform. Is there a better way to test it?

I have the numbers, but I’m not exactly sure what you mean by 'live numbers.' On the operator platform, I can see the delivery rates. How can I tell if they’re fake? I believe they're a trusted company, so they wouldn’t claim something was delivered if it wasn’t. I can even see which networks had the highest delivery rates.

By live number, I mean if you get a number from services like SMS Activate or have someone in the country where you're launching your campaign. Where do you get your databases from? Maybe it would help to sort them by operators.

Try looking for a different provider.
