What do I need to do to get picked for the Reels Try-Out feature?

Hi! I heard that to get the Trial Reels option, your page might need around 480–1,020 followers. I also heard some people say you don’t always have to switch your page to a pro account, but that didn’t seem to work for me. I even tried a couple ideas from YouTube, like sending a message through the IG help area, but that didn’t fix anything either.

If anyone here has any simple tips, I’d be thankful to hear them.

Hey! I’ve been looking into this too. From what I can tell, the Trial Reels tool only shows up for some people. Having around 480 to 1,050 followers might help, but it doesn’t always work. Some people with fewer got it, and others with more still didn’t.

Changing to a creator or business account could help a little, but it doesn’t promise anything. Also, Instagram support usually doesn’t answer messages about turning on new features.

If anyone figured out a way to get it working, please share. It would be nice to know what actually helped.

It might only be open to accounts with a certain number of followers, and it could also be limited to some countries or areas for testing. You can look through other posts too to see if anyone else noticed the same thing.

The “Trial Reels” feature feels kind of random right now. Even pages with around 480 to 1,050 followers don’t always get it. From what we can tell, it depends on a few things:

  • Where you live (some countries don’t have it yet)
  • How old and active your account is (posting Reels often helps)
  • What kind of content you make and how people interact with it

Accounts that already act like creators and post lots of short videos seem to get picked first.

Changing to a pro account might help, but there’s no promise. Sending lots of messages to the Help Center usually doesn’t do anything.

If you really want to boost your chances, try posting short videos every day for about 3–4 weeks. Use popular sounds and hashtags, and don’t use any bots during that time. That can sometimes be enough to unlock it.

From what I’ve seen, posting short videos over and over really helps. I have a few pages with around 260 followers, and they already have access to trial reels.

About “popular sounds” — it actually doesn’t matter if you pick a trending sound inside Instagram or upload a video with your own sound. Both work the same for reach. This came straight from the head of Instagram. He posts lots of useful tips about how IG works if you follow his page.
