Hey, I’m currently using Sublime Text and Notepad++ but I’d love to check out new options where I can add AI to my project folder. I’ve heard of Cursor AI but haven’t tried it yet. Does anyone know any other IDEs I can look at and compare with that one?

Thanks a lot!

Copilot works with lots of IDEs, but I like VSCodium more than VSCode. JetBrains is cool too—some of their tools are free for personal use or early testing. Really, it’s all about picking and sticking with an IDE you enjoy, whether that’s NeoVim, Zed, or something else.

But seriously, please try to move on from Notepad++!

  • Visual Studio Code (VS Code)
  • JetBrains Fleet
  • Codeium
  • Zed
  • Replit Ghostwriter

I think since VS Code is the most used, it probably has the most ways to work with AI. JetBrains is nice too, but I believe VS Code can get better at this because more people use it.

Which one do you like best for coding—Cursor, Codium, VS Code with add-ons, or something from JetBrains?

I used to use Tabnine, and the paid one was actually really nice. If you ever have to fix stuff because ChatGPT left something out, it can help a lot. It even has a little feature that can turn comments into code, though it’s kinda limited.

If you ask me, I think VS Code is probably the best choice!
