In the past 3 months, I have received more than 100 niche-relevant pest control HARO links from reputable websites such as The Washington Post, USA Today, NBC News, and Handyman. Despite using an excellent writer, my local rankings have not improved. I'm wondering if only local links matter. I spend $225 per week on my HARO writer, but I feel that only local links matter because even after acquiring powerful links and brand mentions, my website's rankings have not improved.

My website cost $10,000 to develop with excellent technical SEO. We also publish 2-4 blog posts per week and pass core vitals, yet we haven't seen any significant ranking improvements in months. Is it because my service area business has no local links, or is it simply because my website is only 10 months old and it takes time? Thank you, SEO experts, for your valuable insights.

Based on your current situation, it's possible that you may need to focus more on acquiring local links to improve your local rankings. While high-quality backlinks from authoritative sources are valuable, local links may have more weight when it comes to ranking for location-specific search queries.

Additionally, it's worth considering that it can take some time to see improvements in rankings, especially for a newer website. So, it's possible that your lack of ranking improvement could be due to the age of your website.

To achieve your new goals of acquiring local links, sponsored content on local editorial websites, press releases, and attending local Chamber of Commerce events are all excellent ideas. You could also consider reaching out to local businesses or organizations in your area for potential link-building opportunities. Building relationships with local influencers can also be helpful in acquiring valuable backlinks.

Overall, while high-quality backlinks are important, it's essential to remember that SEO is a long-term strategy that requires patience and consistency. By focusing on acquiring local links and continuing to produce high-quality content, you can increase your chances of improving your local rankings over time.

Is it not possible for you to use social media or paid traffic? It appears that you have the necessary budget for such strategies. Instead of relying solely on Google to generate traffic, why not consider investing in paid advertising to expedite the process? SEO is not the sole method for attracting traffic; there are alternative approaches available.

Local SEO is crucial for your business. It is highly recommended to focus on building local citations, which involve getting your business listed in various local business directories. This ensures your business is prominently published across multiple platforms within your target area.

If I understand correctly, if your business doesn't have strong local rankings but has good national or international rankings, here are some reasons why you may not be performing well in local search results. To improve your local ranking, consider implementing the following strategies to acquire local links:

  1. Seek directory links specific to your target city or area, if available.
  2. Aim to be featured in local online newspapers or websites with a smaller reach.
  3. Obtain backlinks from other local businesses such as medical practices, food shops, health stores, or any other relevant local establishments.
  4. Secure links from local colleges or universities, if possible.
  5. If applicable, try to obtain links from schools in your area.
  6. If there are notable people in your locality, seek backlinks from their websites, Twitter accounts, social media profiles, or other relevant social channels they may have.
Implementing these strategies can help improve your visibility and ranking in local search results.
