A couple of years ago, my channel got demonetized, and since I wasn't familiar with what that meant, I deleted all the videos. Now, people are asking for those videos back, and I think if I reupload them after a few years, they'd get millions of views.
But there's a problem: the channel might get demonetized again for reusing the same content. Do you think the algorithm will "forget" about those videos after 2-3 years, or are they saved forever?

  1. "First, delete the existing videos, then reupload them. Alternatively, create a new channel, make some changes to the videos, and upload them there."
  2. "To proceed, either delete the current videos before reuploading them, or start a new channel, modify the videos slightly, and then upload them."

If you want to reupload the videos, I recommend creating a new channel and uploading them there. Make sure to edit the videos first to ensure they are not identical to the ones you uploaded years ago.

It would be better to create a new channel and re-upload your videos there. Since those videos are already yours, you won't encounter any copyright issues.

Make some edits before uploading, and consider creating a new channel as well.

Thanks for the responses, but my primary question remains unanswered: how long does YouTube retain old videos in their database?

Consider editing the video and changing the thumbnail; it might comply with YouTube's guidelines.

Delete the old videos and replace them with fresh, recent ones!

Mastering the Art of Overthinking:

Focus on producing high-quality content, as only the best videos will gain traction. If your videos aren't exceptional, it won't matter how many you create.

If you're interested in managing multiple channels, you'll need to first understand the intricacies of handling multiple accounts.

In my country, there's a saying that once something is uploaded to the internet, it never truly disappears.

How long are database records of removed videos retained?

I assume it could be months, but it might extend to years, depending on the situation.

The video's content remains the same, so reuploading it won't make a difference.

From my experience, the uniqueness of the video isn't as crucial as the content itself.

The best approach is to manage multiple accounts using trusted devices like an iPhone and Mac Silicon. Diversifying across multiple channels (or properties) is generally safer than putting all your assets into a single one.
