Hello,

I’ll keep this short and really value your thoughts and ideas.

I want to start a Fiverr Web Developer group. I have three developers with me, plus a skilled designer on the team.

Our goal is to get some customers in the first few months and make a few thousand dollars to pay bills and grow from there.

From what I know, Fiverr is very tough to compete in. If you could share one or two tips, that would be great. Any good or bad points would help.

This could be a steady business if things go well, but I want to hear what you think.

Why not level up to Jr. VIP and start offering your services here?

From what I've seen, the clients on BHW are much higher quality than those on other freelancing sites.

Still not convinced?

I work on freelancer.com, and honestly, it feels like every week I run into at least one client who's either clueless, cheap, or just expects too much.

But on MMO? In the past year or so, I’ve only had about 3 bad experiences.

Totally agree!

Don't rely only on Fiverr, since they're pretty unreliable. It's also a good idea to have some offline clients.

Have you gotten any orders on Fiverr yet? It’s better to start on your own, grow a bit, and then think about expanding.

Create a sales thread at MMO once you upgrade.

Half of the web design sellers there don't even have these:

A working website

A site that's not hacked or full of malware

A contact form that actually works

An active domain

A proper contact form

A contact form that's easy to find

If you have all these things in place, you've already got an edge over half the competition!

I’d say try looking at other places to find leads. Upwork is a bit better than Fiverr. You could even share what you do right here.

What are your starting costs, and how much do you want to charge at first? Fiverr is mostly known for low-priced stuff, so just wondering what your plan is.

I get the feeling that people on BHW mostly try to be the cheapest instead of focusing on doing really good work, so I’m not too sure about selling here. But hey, I could be wrong.

What we really want is to find long-term clients outside of the marketplace. I know there can be problems and even bans, sometimes even when you didn’t do anything wrong.

That’s a great point. I’ve been buying stuff on Fiverr for a few years and picked up some tips along the way. I’m hoping it won’t take more than a month or so to start getting some offers. Maybe this is just how I need to begin. Thanks a lot!

I think some sellers stop because they try to set their prices super low just to get customers, and then they can’t keep it going. Or maybe they’re just starting out and still learning. Either way, really helpful advice — thanks!

Yeah, I’m thinking of starting with just one for now. Do you think it’s better to try both at the same time instead? I don’t know much about Upwork, but I heard it’s more professional — like, not full of $4 gigs for everything.

Also, how can I see if people here at MMO are even looking for web services?

We won’t be paying salaries since we’ll work on each project as it comes. There might be a little money spent on ads or fees from selling on marketplaces. So overall, it’s a cheap way to get started—probably around $450 or so.
