Hey everyone,

I'm a newbie trying to sell on Amazon. To get the hang of my seller account, I'm starting by selling some old records. I have a couple of questions:

Which delivery method is more profitable, FBA or FBM? And if I choose FBA, will Amazon cover the liability for breakage if the vinyl records are damaged?
Since I’ve never sold before, is it worth paying for reviews to help build my reputation at this point?
Thanks so much!

LP

I believe FBA has great shipping and handling. I'm not sure about paying for reviews though, since you could get in trouble.

I know about FBA, but what does FBM stand for?

FBM stands for Fulfilled by Merchant. In this setup, you are responsible for picking, packing, and shipping the orders. You also need to handle customer support on your own.

For a new seller, FBA is usually the best option. Amazon takes care of picking, packing, shipping, and customer support.

If you don’t have a lot of inventory and are only selling a few things to boost your rating, you should wait until you have a solid business plan for FBA. When you pack and ship items, just get insurance—it’s about $1.

I understand, thank you for explaining.

FBA is the better choice in this situation.

FBA is usually cheaper, but I'm not sure when you factor in taxes and fees.

Yeah, FBA is better if you don't want the hassle. You’ll need to set your price after figuring out your sourcing cost, labeling cost, shipping to Amazon, FBA pick and pack fee, and referral fee.

Does FBA always include VAT (sales tax based on the country of sale)? Can you choose this?

Once you reach the sales threshold of £85,200 in the UK, you will need to register for VAT. After adding your VAT number in Seller Central, Amazon will automatically deduct VAT from every sale.
