Hello, Does anyone know of a straightforward code editing program that is similar to https://atom.io/? I've been using it, but unfortunately, it will be discontinued soon. Any recommendations?

These days, it feels like Notepad++ is the only simple option! Haha, had to mention that. Then there’s JetBrains tools, and of course, Microsoft’s VSCode or Visual Studio.

I like JetBrains tools, but for C#, Visual Studio is really strong.

What languages are you using, and what are you building, if you don’t mind me asking?

I like VSCode because it’s so versatile. But if you're after editors for specific languages, I’d recommend JetBrains IntelliJ for Java, PyCharm for Python, and Visual Studio for C#.

VSCode is the standard in the industry. Notepad++ has a lot of users, and I personally use it, mainly for editing HTML. Sublime Text also has a big following, especially among Linux users.

I use VSCode for web development, PyCharm for Python, and Notepad++ for editing text files.

I’m not a programmer, but EditPad Pro is worth checking out. I started using it instead of Notepad++, and it has some really cool features. I mainly use it for editing text files, but I think it also supports different coding languages.

Isn’t VS Code not that great? I mean, you can code in lots of languages, and there are extensions for less common ones too, so you can still use them.

If you're searching for a code editor like Atom, you might want to give VS Code a try.

Some of my top code editors are nano, bluefish, and jotting notes on a bathroom wall with a cracked piece of glass at 3 AM.
