Namecheap has been included on the list of Domain Name Providers who have been known to acquire or purchase premium domains that were searched for but not immediately purchased. It is recommended to avoid scanning valuable domains unless you intend to buy them immediately following the scan.

Most of the prominent companies in this sector share the same situation.

Instead of using GoDaddy, I prefer use instantdomainsearch.com.

This is a common occurrence among many domain service providers.

I believe @bartosimpsonio started a thread about this not too long ago.

This is a great post! I mostly use Namecheap, and I've been exploring different domains.

I already told them what they did to me. People need to know they aren’t professional.

Definitely.

I’ve heard about this happening with other companies, but since I usually use Namecheap, I had to learn the hard way. It might be time to try a smaller company, like the one suggested in this thread.

Instead of using GoDaddy, I prefer use instantdomainsearch.com.
I’ll definitely try using smaller, less well-known providers. I’ll check out instantdomainsearch.com. Thanks for the suggestion!

Both Namecheap and GoDaddy did that to me.

GoDaddy does the same bad stuff.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks! I’ll stop checking domains there from now on.

Do they review them manually after that?

I used to think they were one of the reliable domain providers.

If you mean on their end, I think it’s an automated process, which is why we’re choosing smaller companies over the big ones that automate this.

Other members have already shared some smaller alternatives in this thread.

I used to think they were one of the reliable domain providers.

That's why I was really surprised. I knew some other disliked companies did this, but Namecheap was my go-to for domains and testing sites because their hosting is affordable. I’ve learned the hard way that this seems to be common among all the big companies nowadays.

Thanks for the idea!

This isn’t okay.

I understand, but we have to share the message and search for other options.

Which registrar do you usually use to register domains?
