Is TikTok being stricter about videos that aren’t new? Does the overlay trick not work well anymore?

To keep it short, over the past few months I’ve been sharing TikTok videos on more than 90 accounts using a certain reposting method.

If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you already know how that method works, so I won’t go into details.

The lower-performing accounts would still get maybe 450 views on at least one video (which I would remove after a few posts). Most accounts regularly got around 1,100 views per video. A few of them even had a couple of videos go viral with over 140k views.

Across all of these videos—including most of the weaker accounts—we avoided seeing the “Not eligible for the For You Feed” notice.

A few weeks ago, we started noticing a big shift. Now, it’s rare for our accounts to get more than 680 views on a video. The “Not eligible for the For You Feed” message seems to show up on almost every video within a couple of minutes of posting.

I don’t think this sudden change has anything to do with my setup (like SIMs or proxies). It seems more likely that TikTok made an update to crack down on unoriginal content.

I’m wondering if anyone else who reposts TikToks has seen the same thing—especially those using the overlay method or other reposting tricks, like editing bots or CapCut edits.

I’ve noticed that just because a video doesn’t show the “Not eligible for FYP” message, it doesn’t always mean TikTok didn’t flag it. They probably have other ways of checking that we can’t see. Of course, this is just a guess—I’m not 100% sure.

Personally, I’ve seen my views drop on reused content, so I’ve been trying out new ways to recycle videos and see if that helps.

The more I try things out and look into it, the more I think TikTok changed how it finds copied videos. Right now, I can only get around 900–1,100 views and stay away from the “not allowed” notice when the videos are edited a lot.

I’ve seen changes on the app too. Sharing old videos used to work okay, but now TikTok seems much tougher on copied posts. That message saying a video can’t go on the For You page shows up fast, and it really hurts reach. I used to manage several pages using the same method, and views were steady back then. Now when I post, almost nothing happens.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I’m trying to make my own stuff for Reddit and Minecraft, but nothing is working. I’ve tried changing the backgrounds, switching up the sounds, and even using different voices, and still nothing.

I’ve tested a couple other ways too, like using a fake camera app to record inside TikTok (kind of like the overlay trick, just a little different), but it still didn’t work.

I really think TikTok uses some kind of smart computer system that can tell when a video is reused. It probably looks at how the video appears on screen. So if the video doesn’t look clearly different, it seems like it will keep getting flagged no matter what method you try.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. But if you edit it the right way and change it enough, it really shouldn’t cause any trouble.

What do you mean by “good editing”? How would you explain it?

What is the overlay method?
Can you explain it?

Hey, have you tried flipping the video or rotating it a little?

I’ve been dealing with the same issue for around 3–5 weeks now. So far, nothing seems to fix it.

Most apps are getting stricter about spam and low-quality AI content.

I think they’re making big changes to how their ranking system works after the pressure from being blocked in the U.S.

Do you clear or change the video details first before posting it again?

I might be a bit off since I’m not fully sure what the overlay method is, but my guess is it means mixing your own content (like a short clip you record, filters, etc.) with reused clips.

When reposting TikToks, editing or removing the metadata used to be an important step. Maybe this helps, even if it’s not exactly the issue.

I think it’s better to stop using the old methods and try something new, like deep mashups to make movie-style or celebrity-type videos, or even make your own original videos. You can also take commentary videos and change them in a unique way.

Just putting two videos together doesn’t really work anymore. That method is mostly gone, and the update at the start of this month is strongly stopping people from doing that.

How are you setting up your “camera spoofer,” @sjofm? And what kind of overlay are you using for it?
