Do you think selling on eBay is still a good idea in 2025?

Do you believe eBay is still a good way to make money now that there are so many new options like Amazon FBA, TikTok Shop, and Shopify? Or have the fees and competition made it too hard?

The fees are really high, especially if you’re not in the U.S., and then there’s VAT on top of that… it makes earning money pretty tough. It used to be a good spot until taxes started climbing.

Honestly, eBay isn’t very good anymore. I’ve never really used it myself, but I know a friend who used to sell stuff there. He said the site has changed a lot over the last 6–7 years, and things don’t work the same way they used to.

Sometimes I find stuff sitting near the dumpster by my place. I put it on eBay for a pretty high price, and people buy it. I’m happy, the buyers are happy, and eBay is happy too.

eBay can still make money in 2026, but it’s not as easy as posting an item and walking away.
Fees are higher now, so you have to add that cost into your prices.
Paying to boost your listings helps more people see them.
Selling to a small, clear group and giving great customer help matters a lot.
It also helps to sell the same items on places like Amazon or TikTok Shop so you’re not stuck using only eBay.

eBay can still make money if you focus on the right kinds of items, like rare stuff, fixed-up products, or bulk deals.
The costs are higher and the rules are stricter, but buyers keep coming back.
Sites like Amazon, TikTok, and Shopify can grow bigger, but they need money upfront and ads.
eBay is easy to start and good for quick cash, but not the best for building a huge brand.
It works best as a side place to sell, not your main business.

One time I paid about $195 for an item.
It was used, and the seller had already owned it before selling it.
When it arrived, it didn’t work at all.
That’s not real business to me — that’s cheating.
There’s nothing good or fair about that kind of deal.
