Instagram Do videos that do well on TikTok also do well on Instagram?

I have several methods for creating viral videos on TikTok that get between 3k and 1 million views, even on accounts that start with 0 followers. But when it comes to Instagram, I’m a beginner. I’ve always tried using it, but I haven’t had much success. I’ve tried different projects, but none of them worked. Now, I’m giving it another shot to build an Instagram page and make it work for the first time. I’m posting the same kind of videos that go viral on TikTok, but I’m not seeing the same results. I know the algorithms are different, and TikTok gives a lot of boosts, but my question is: Can an Instagram account grow with the same kind of videos that do well on TikTok, or is it a completely different process? I thought it all came down to watch times and metrics for the algorithm to push it.

These new Instagram accounts I’ve started have about 5-10 followers, and the views from NON-FOLLOWERS on the 4 videos I’ve posted so far range from 5 to 20.

If it did well on TikTok, it’s likely to do well on YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels too.

Videos that do well on TikTok might also do well on Instagram, but there are a few important differences between the two that can change how well they perform.

I've noticed it can work either way, but don't share the version with the TikTok watermark on Instagram.

This doesn’t really matter. I’ve seen videos with the TikTok watermark get millions of views and over 120,000 shares.

Just because something goes viral on TikTok doesn’t mean it will do the same on Instagram, but there’s a better chance if TikTok had a positive response to the video.

I’ve come across many videos that went viral on TikTok and are also doing great on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Most of them are about beauty tips, K-pop, and handsome guys, haha.

It can work, since a Reel and a TikTok video are pretty much the same and both use a vertical screen format. You should try it out, but keep in mind that the audiences are different, so something that goes viral on TikTok might not do the same on Instagram.

The algorithm is a bit random, so the same content could go viral on TikTok but not on Instagram, or the other way around. I’d say TikTok has a big advantage for new accounts. A new account on Instagram hardly ever blows up, and even YouTube Shorts tends to have better organic growth.

I think it really depends on the niche. I've had diet videos do well on both, but with other topics, the results were totally different. Still, it’s worth giving it a shot!

Thanks, everyone! Yep, it’s working. My fourth video on the new account already has 1.6k views, so it’s looking good. The only thing is, Instagram grows slower, and followers seem to count more there than on TikTok (where they don't really matter).

Could you share some tips on how to make a video go viral on TikTok? Thanks!

Yes, Instagram’s algorithm is different from TikTok’s. While both care about engagement, Instagram focuses more on things like hashtags, timing, and interactions (like comments and story views). To grow on Instagram, being consistent and mixing up the types of content you post (Reels, Stories, Carousels, and regular Posts) can help. If your TikTok videos aren’t working on Instagram, try adjusting them for Instagram’s style (like making them fit Reels format) and make sure to engage with others by liking, commenting, and sharing often to get noticed.

They have different algorithms, but I think if you put in more effort, you'll have some success with both.
