For the past two weeks, I’ve been experimenting with adding all of your followers to close friends. So far, I’ve seen some amazing results—one business got 5 times the usual story views, and this inactive 130k account got nearly 10 times the views, jumping from 849 to 7,800, while also gaining followers for the first time this year. Has anyone else tried this?

So far, I can add about 20k followers a day. I’m doing a case study with a few larger accounts (around 1 million followers) and will update you on how many I can add over a longer period.

That's 6 times you can do this. After that, what happens? Will you still get those views, or will it go back to how it was before?

So far, every story has done about the same on all the accounts I've tested it on. There's definitely some drop-off, but you're also always gaining new followers, so the list keeps getting updated.

How do you get 19k followers a day? Do you buy 19k followers every day?

I add 21k of my own followers to close friends every day.

So, if I have an account with 205k followers, it takes about 9 days to add them all to close friends.

That’s really cool! How can I get started with this?

So, the idea is that the green ring is more attention-grabbing? People might click on it out of curiosity since you don’t usually see the green ring, but will it actually keep their attention? I’m curious to see how long the boost lasts.

I thought that close friends vs regular followers were kind of the same. Like, if all of them are close friends, it’s almost like they’re not.

I think the story views are affected by how many new users you follow, compared to adding them as close friends.

We tried this as well, and some accounts are getting stuck at 10k, while others have over 500k. Any idea why this is happening? Is there a way around it? Also, I’m curious about what software you’re using. Any details would be really helpful.

Yeah, because the idea is that you can post things for close friends only, but if everyone’s a close friend, then it’s like no one is. The post should still show with a green ring to grab their attention, though.

It's a really interesting and creative idea. I’ve never heard or thought of it before.

I’m not sure if it would work for steady growth, but maybe it could help reactivate old big accounts or just keep refreshing your accounts. Once you add people to your best friends list, you'll get a lot more views, and this extra engagement might boost the account and its posts.

Keep us updated, thanks for sharing!

It’s the other way around. If you’re on their close friends list, it shows up in green. If you’re the only one adding them to your close friends, it doesn’t change anything.

Huh? That doesn’t sound right. If I add someone to my close friends and post a picture only they can see, others can’t just get in on that. I’ve seen people on OF use it to share exclusive content with their followers.

I thought the whole point was to stop finstas by letting you do it all on one account.

I think I got you wrong at first. You're right.

Oh, haha, I was about to believe you that it was the other way around since I've never used it myself. Like, what kind of useless feature would that be? XD
I was talking about viewing stories from your close friends, while you were referring to stories you only share with your close friends. Both have a green ring, by the way.

It marks them green for you, even though they’re not anything special? That’s kind of silly. Nice job, Instagram!

Your stories get a green ring in these two cases:

You add them to your close friends and post a story just for them.
They add you to their close friends.
Both are kind of special, and from what I understand, you’ve found a way to use the first one to your advantage.
