Today's article will demonstrate the precise technique for constructing backlinks that produce remarkable outcomes. Specifically, this approach has facilitated the growth of our website's organic traffic from less than 500 visitors to over 50,000+ organic visitors with a strong purchasing intent in under 14 months. Additionally, this project has successfully endured major Google core updates.
Let's get started with the following steps:
Discovering potential domains for link building:
Gone are the days when you could simply purchase links from a list of websites in an Excel spreadsheet. It's important to remember that if you're taking this approach, hundreds of others are likely doing the same thing, which often results in buying links from a "link farm".
If you're serious about link building, you should analyze the strategies of your top 10 competitors and learn from them. This is precisely what I'm going to demonstrate.
The first tool you'll need is AHREFS.
To begin, navigate to AHREFS and input your domain name.
Why are you asking? It's not wise to simply rely on outdated spreadsheets for link building. As a serious business, we should invest our resources into strategies that actually work.
One effective approach is to analyze the links our competitors are building. By doing so, we can identify the tactics that are driving their success and potentially adopt them for our own benefit. This is especially valuable if our competitors are outranking us for our target keywords, as it indicates that Google views their off-page SEO favorably.
To move forward with this strategy, we've compiled a list of our top organic competitors.
To simplify matters, you can use the URL with a filter structure. All you need to do is replace the domain name.
By using the filter, we have refined the data set from over 2100+ links to around 51 quality links that we can use.
What should be the next step, you may ask? Well, it's time to repeat the process for the next 5-10 SERP competitors, based on the number of links targeted for the year. Ideally, I suggest having a plan of at least 3-12 months.
The result will provide a catalog of distinct websites where we can acquire good links. (Click to access)
As of now, we have downloaded decent links from approximately 8 competitors on our MacBook.
Consolidate all these URLs into one folder by opening, extracting, and putting them together. We've compiled a comprehensive list of our top competitors' domains, which includes a total of 556 domains.
In the upcoming stage, I will be addressing the topic of data cleanup, focusing on the following aspects:
Let's get started with the following steps:

In the upcoming stage, I will be addressing the topic of data cleanup, focusing on the following aspects:
- Our priorities when performing data cleanup
- Why pursuing every list may not be a practical approach
- Which method is preferable for data cleanup: manual or automated?
