TikTok What should I do if I have no followers on Twitter? Can I use traffic exchanges, or will that mess with the algorithm?

Hey,

None of my friends use Twitter, so I’m starting from scratch. What can I do to grow my account naturally? Should I follow the usual steps for growth, or should I try using a traffic exchange and follow-for-follow to get to 1,000 followers, and then use other methods to keep growing?

So, should I use a traffic exchange, or is it better not to?

Thanks!

You can use a Twitter bot and try the parent/child growth method by replying to specific tweets. That’s given me the best results.

Hi, thanks for responding. I can’t afford a Twitter bot, so I’ll do everything by hand. I have the time, but I’ve been let go from my job. Do you think the exchange is worth it, even with 0 followers? I just want to know if the traffic exchange is good in the long run or not. Thanks!

Create a couple of extra dummy accounts that you’re okay with losing. If you can’t buy cheap proxies, just make 2 more on your IP, or if you're not comfortable with that, use your main account. Reply to new tweets from accounts in your niche by adding something helpful or just linking to your tweet.

As long as your content is solid, you should start getting some attention to get things moving.

I don’t really understand. So, I make 2 more accounts, start re-tweeting, and answering questions on my competitor's Twitter, then direct them back to my main account? Why not just do all of that from the start with my main account? My only worry is that I’ll start being active on Twitter, but people might not care because I’m new and don’t have any followers.

You use other accounts so your main one doesn’t get shadowbanned. But if you don’t tweet, reply, or follow too much every day (check the daily and hourly limits on Twitter), you should be okay using just your main account. Ideally, you’d use a bot with around 10 accounts and different proxies to reply more and grow faster.

As for people not caring, it might matter at first, but as long as your content is valuable, things will start picking up. Everyone starts somewhere!

Okay, so everyone starts somewhere, but if you have a 0, people who might follow you won't. It's the same in sales—if you don’t know how to deal with objections and close the deal, some customers will just go to your competitor. I’m not really into spamming. All I wanted to know is if I could get 12 followers a day from traffic exchanges without messing up the Twitter algorithm. That’s my only worry and the main problem I’ve been facing.

Engage with followers of competitors, try using ads that target the right people, and focus on natural, regular interactions. These are great ways to help you grow.

I can't use paid ads, but I was planning to interact with my competitors. The only problem is that I have 0 followers, which might make some people hesitate to join (I think the term for this is "lack of social proof")

You could try adding some fake followers, since a lot of social media panels sell them (just don’t rely on them too much). Or, you could stick with it and grow your audience slowly, which takes more effort but is safer in the end, even though it might be more boring.

Aren't paid ads full of fake accounts?

Yeah, that kind of thing happens sometimes. It can change based on what your topic is and how you run the ads, so the trouble can be big or small. Still, it’s one way to reach a good number of people.

If you get an account that already has some followers, you’ll probably need to use a special browser or a tool like a proxy to stay safe and not get caught.

Why do I need a proxy if I bought a Twitter account the right way and it already has followers? Is it blocked by location like TikTok sometimes does?

If you want more followers on X, try following around 25–45 people each day who post about the same stuff as you. Some of them will follow you back. Then, post things that make people feel something — that kind of content really grabs attention.

Using a Twitter bot that copies the parent/kid style setup can work super well! Wishing you the best!

Is the old way of getting followers — like following 20 to 40 people in your topic every day — not working anymore? Are there any good SMM places where you can buy followers who actually care about your content? And does Elon Musk’s X (Twitter) even let that happen now?
