Twitter Elon Musk engagement algorithm sucks

In recent months, Elon Musk has eliminated the "latest tweets" feature on Twitter, leaving users with only two options: viewing the algorithmic timeline or the "people you follow" timeline. Unfortunately, both options are disappointing.

Elon's algorithmic timeline is notably flawed and has turned into a comical spectacle of sorts. Many prominent accounts now resort to posting about "the next crypto 100x" just to generate a flood of 2,000 replies.

The latest trend in engagement tactics involves offering a prize to any comment that receives zero likes. It goes something like this: "In the next 2 hours, I will give $100 to any comment under this tweet with zero likes." This prompts everyone to rush in, post a comment, and start liking other comments in the hope that their own comment will emerge as the winner. It's an explosion of engagement, where everyone comments and likes each other's comments.

Elon's removal of the "latest tweets" timeline has significantly impacted the quality of the platform. Engagement games like the one described above are just the beginning, and the overall timeline now appears chaotic and unappealing. Essentially, your top 100 tweets will likely be various versions of these engagement bombs.

They are currently making further adjustments to the algorithm. In my perspective, it's preferable to censorship and shadow banning.

Censorship can involve the act of eliminating or taking down accounts that Elon Musk dislikes, amusingly enough.

Yes, he messed up the video scrolling feature for adult content. It also negatively impacted my number of views because previously, people would watch a porn video, scroll down, and easily find more similar videos. But now, when they scroll down, they are immediately redirected to unrelated and generic content.

Why would someone choose to use Twitter for adult content, though? It's a rather curious choice, isn't it?

It remains superior to how it was during the ownership of the previous people.

I understand your frustration. In my timeline, the situation has worsened since the transition to this new approach. There always seems to be some sort of repercussion or connection to him and his associates. Furthermore, I am unable to establish a community, and he has not fulfilled his promise to allow appeals for targeted or censored accounts in the previous system. The requirement of phone number verification has become an obsession, and he has actively blocked T-Mobile numbers on accounts that are less than two years old.

The situation is already a chaotic mess that continues to evolve on a daily basis. Many people are reporting that the censorship has resurfaced with this new form of engagement, seemingly tied to his arbitrary verification process involving colored checkmarks.

Now, folks are securing their accounts for a broader reach. Can you believe it? Someone discovered they garnered more views with a locked account than a public one. This thread spills the beans on two methods that many didn't seem to grasp :p
