I was able to grow my YouTube channels to 202k, 74k, and 27k subscribers by reuploading old videos (mostly with copyright issues). But now, I'm not sure what to do with them since they’re pretty much inactive. I only know a little bit about editing. Does anyone have suggestions on how to make money from these channels while also growing them, and ideas for new content?

Consider selling the channel or changing it to a review channel.

Use your face to review copyright videos; it might help make your videos stand out.

You could use affiliate links or sell print-on-demand products. Or, you can promote your own creations like books and movies.

My channel mainly has long videos. Will uploading shorts help it grow? And what’s the easiest type of shorts I can make that can be monetized?

You can use Clipchamp or CapCut, which are online video editors, or even desktop ones to make simple videos. You don’t need a lot of editing skills, or you can just learn from YouTube.

You could've been learning during this time. I’m not sure why you didn’t pick up some new skills. Just Google how to make faceless YouTube videos with AI.

You should stick to the same niche for your videos, or your subscribers might lose interest.

If your channel is still getting views, check which videos are popular. Then, add affiliate links for products or Amazon merch in the video description.

Another option is selling your channel. How much you can sell it for depends on things like the niche, content, how active your channel is, and how many subscribers you have. Since your content is copyrighted, it depends on the buyer too. It wouldn't be worth much if they have to remove the videos that bring in views.

Have you tried starting regular live streams on these channels? It usually works really well.

Can a channel with 27k subscribers be sold?

You can come up with your own content, or you could hire someone to create it for you.

Did you mention a copyright issue? Is the channel making money?

I was thinking of uploading some Disney stuff, maybe Avengers.

Your channel could be worth around $1250-$2150 USD.

It could be $35-$85 for 1000, but it really depends on if they're making money, the niche, and if followers stick around—all of those matter for the price.

Sadly, it's not making money.

Your channels have great potential! To monetize and grow them:

Monetization Ideas:

  • Check for Monetization Eligibility – If possible, remove copyright-flagged content and reapply for YouTube’s Partner Program.
  • Affiliate Marketing – Promote relevant products in your videos with affiliate links.
  • Sponsorships – Brands might still be interested in advertising to your audience.
  • Sell Digital Products – Think about eBooks, courses, or exclusive content.
  • Repurpose Old Content – Edit and reupload videos with a fresh twist to avoid copyright issues.
  • Drive Traffic Elsewhere – Link to other platforms like Rumble or a personal website for additional revenue.

Content Ideas for Growth:

  • Faceless Videos – Use AI voiceovers, stock footage, or animations.
  • Compilation or Reaction Videos – Just be mindful of copyright rules.
  • Trending & Evergreen Topics – Cover popular or long-lasting topics in your niche.
  • YouTube Shorts – Quick, engaging content can boost channel activity.
  • Need More Ideas? – Check out this list of niche and vlog ideas: https://monetize-checker.com/niche-and-vlog-ideas/.
If editing is a challenge, use beginner friendly tools like CapCut or Canva, or hire an editor.

Sadly, it's not making money.

You have two choices, even if it's not making money:

First, you can use it to drive traffic to a new, clean YouTube channel. Name the current one something like ‘Shoutouts’ and give shoutouts every few minutes in the video, including your new channel. This will help your new channel get noticed and eventually monetized. Just make sure you don't upload anything illegal, as this can help give you a boost.

As long as the channel belongs to you, you can comment as much as you want.

Another idea is to create shoutouts for the first 100 people who comment on each video. This will help your other channel grow.

The second option is to use it for live streaming on both your old and new channels.

There are tons of ways to make this work—getting subscribers means money. There are more ways to grow than just monetization.

The issue is I don't have anything to upload since the videos that got me subs were either pre-made or reuploads that got copyright claims, so I can't use them anymore. I’ve never made my own videos, and I’m not sure what to create or upload, although I’m good at editing videos.

That’s okay.

Did you buy this account? It kind of sounds like you did.

You can download piracy videos or anything—don’t overthink it. I think you might be overthinking it.

If you have 0 subscribers, you should think more about it. But if you have 1,000, just make sure monetization is on. Just a heads-up, don’t upload Disney movies or B-grade films.

For example, movies with Jason Statham or random ones—just upload them from your phone and that’s it.

Go do some marketing at the library and make it a fun day. You can do some editing here and there.

You’re in a good spot, you just need a lot of ideas.

Like I said, only upload piracy stuff on the old channel. The new channel can be you uploading simple videos, like rain images—nothing too complicated, even a still image.

You can also do shoutouts here, sell one of your old channels, get a junior badge, and help others boost their viewers by paying like $5 for a boost.

You have a lot of great opportunities ahead.

How do you upload a Jason Statham movie without getting a copyright strike, or is it blocked in some countries? Do you know what tool to use for that?
