Youtube WARNING!! Proof That People Can Ruin Your Channel or Videos by Sending Fake Views (and Other Tricks)

I’ve been looking into something important lately, and I found out there’s not much you can do to stop this kind of attack.

As you start gaining popularity, expect some competitors to start paying attention. These big competitors know how to take advantage of the system, and they’ll use every trick they can find, including glitches and shortcuts, to mess with your channel.

A lot of people ask: 'Will YouTube ban me for buying fake views?'

The usual answer is: 'YouTube won’t ban you for buying fake views because if they did, you could just send fake views to your competitors and get them banned.'

From what I’ve found in my research on mmolearn, this used to be true in the early days of YouTube, before they figured out how to stop it. Back then, YouTube did ban channels for fake views, but they eventually fixed the issue.

BUT GUESS WHAT?

THEY FIXED ONE PROBLEM BUT CREATED ANOTHER.
Competitors can't get you banned, but they can definitely get you shadowbanned.

There are several ways competitors can attack your channel (most of these can be done through SMM):

● Sending fake views with low retention (using SMM panels).
● Mass flagging or reporting your channel (using SMM panels).
● Sending fake subscribers (using SMM panels).

Any of these actions can lead to your channel or videos being shadowbanned.
If you suddenly notice a huge drop in views, now you know why.

The links below are just some examples. I've seen even more proof of this happening on various forums. I’m guessing some of you may already be familiar with this problem.

That sounds like a service stirring up in the air, just sending bad ratings to your competitor's videos.
 
Shoutouts that aren't right for your audience can also damage your channel.

YouTube really needs to notice this problem that a lot of creators deal with and take action. We have to make sure the YouTube team is aware of it.
 
Great post @YoutubeScientist! This is a common way to reduce engagement for others.

By the way, Instagram has already fixed this problem with their "flagged for review" option.

It’s great to hear that some platforms, like Instagram, are doing something about it. Can you share more about what Instagram has done? I haven’t seen anything about it yet.

When Instagram spots a user with suspicious behavior (like bots, spam, etc.) among your followers, they flag the account and give you the option to remove them.

I remember channels and videos being removed within an hour of being posted here on MMO. So it's definitely a known method.

Right now, I have a channel with 830k subscribers facing the same issue. It went from 60% views from the US (2023) to 55% from India (2024).
 
It's frustrating to see that all a competitor has to do to ruin your channel is send fake views to your videos.
 
Wow. Even if it's your biggest competitor, are there really people who do this? I can’t believe it! Stealing content was just the start, and now it feels like there's no end to it. That’s crazy! Thanks for sharing this, bro.

Yep, because Google keeps an eye on things here.
 
This is a game changer. If someone has the ability to send all those fake views and bots, they could take over an entire niche. But doing it on a large scale would be way too obvious. It looks like YouTube competition is getting out of control.
 
Just to add, if you get external traffic from this site (screenshot below), you're definitely being targeted. Your video will struggle unless you're a big channel with high authority.

It seems like YouTube doesn’t have the ability to fix this. It's really disappointing.

Heh, that seems to be a trend with a lot of social networks. With AI and non-human moderators on the rise, it's ironically easier to game the system and unfortunately be harmful to competitors.
 
Smaller channels don’t need to worry about this as much. And this is happening with long-form content. Do you know why YouTube is focusing on short-form? It’s not just because of TikTok.
 
I’m aware of this but don’t know enough to avoid it yet. Thanks for sharing; it really helped since my YouTube channel is growing. I’ll do more research on this.
