Trying to understand how Reddit’s phone-app system works behind the scenes.

I’ve been trying to figure out how the Reddit phone app works, and I’m wondering if anyone here has ever looked into how a big app like that is built. I’ve done lots of projects that use normal APIs before, so some parts feel kind of familiar, but this seems a bit different. When I check what the app sends out when you try to make a post, it looks like it sends a bunch of different messages, not just the one that posts the thing.

So I’m mostly asking if there’s anything I should watch out for, or if anyone has learned anything from studying how other big social apps work. I know people here don’t usually share all their tricks, but any general ideas would be really helpful.

It really depends on what you’re trying to do with the Reddit phone tools. If you’re thinking about making a new account through them, you should be careful, because the app pays close attention to how people use it.

But if you’re only planning to do simple things, like adding a comment or tapping an upvote, the regular Reddit setup already lets you do those kinds of actions. Their newer system works the same way for those parts, so you wouldn’t need to do anything extra or complicated.
