Hey everyone,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a detailed thread or follow-along here.
Honestly, I haven’t shared much since around 2014!
I guess I just got really caught up in learning about media buying, finding success, and running campaign after campaign.
Now, I’m at a point where I want to give back to the BHW community. When I first joined, I was a complete beginner and learned so much from this forum.
I got started in Adult Media Buying. I mean, sex sells, right? And there’s a huge amount of adult traffic out there—after all, there’s a lot of guys watching adult content every day...
I haven’t seen many in-depth guides here on media buying, especially Adult Media Buying, so I thought I’d share a detailed guide and follow-along with a new campaign I’m running.
The Adult Media Buying space has changed over the years, becoming a bit tougher in certain areas like Dating, and the pandemic also shifted things a bit. But make no mistake—if you pay attention to the banner ads on tube sites, you’ll see that Dating, Cams, Adult Gaming, and Male Enhancement are still huge.
Is anyone here running Adult Media Buys right now, or have you tried it in the past?
There are always waves of trends that come and go, but the ones who stick to their plan and focus on ONE thing are the ones who win.
One important lesson I want to share: if you’re new to this, don’t fall into "shiny object syndrome." Don’t jump from trend to trend just because something is “hot” right now.
Instead, focus on ONE money-making method at a time, and stick with it for at least 2-3 months. Too many beginners give up way too soon.
Anyway, let’s get into the guide and how to follow along.
I’m going to run a PPL (Pay Per Lead) campaign.
If you're new to this, it's best to start with PPL offers rather than PPS (Pay Per Sale).
With PPL offers, you get data faster and can see what’s working without needing a huge budget to begin with. It's also easier to get someone to sign up for free than to get them to spend money right away.
For example, you could spend $50 and get a few leads (data).
But if you spent the same $50 on a PPS offer, you might not even make a single sale, and you won’t have any sales data to use.
With PPS, you’ll need to spend more money before you start getting sales.
A common question for beginners is, "How much should I spend on an offer to get enough data?"
A good rule of thumb is to spend about 3 times the payout. So, for the Cam offer I’m running, the payout is $3.00.
$3.00 x 3 = $9.00
That means I’d want to spend at least $9.00 on the ad, landing page, and offer combination before stopping if I don’t get any leads.
Here’s a quick look at the details for my campaign:
No need to go overboard with spending; I'm just getting started and testing things out.
One mistake beginners often make is testing too many things at once...
They try testing 10 different banner ads, 10 landing pages, and 10 offer pages all at once.
I get why you might think that—when I started, I thought the same thing: “If I test lots of options, I’ll find the winners faster, right?” Nope.
This post would get way too long if I explained all the math behind this, but the key is to test smartly so that your $48 budget can collect enough useful data from all the combinations of banners, landing pages, and offers.
For this campaign, I’m only testing 5 banners and linking to 2 different offer pages. That makes a total of 10 combinations to test.
I’m using Voluum tracking software because it’s really important to track which combinations are working. Without tracking, I wouldn’t know which banner or offer is performing better.
Out of the 5 banners, about 3 will probably not do well, but 2 should stand out as winners.
Since I’m running a cam offer, and JerkMate has great pre-made offer pages, I can link directly to those offer pages from my banner ads. But if I were running a dating offer, I’d need to test my own landing pages first before sending traffic to the actual offer page.
In that case, I’d be testing 5 banners, 2 landing pages, and 2 offer pages, which would give me a few more combinations to work with.
Sorry if the formatting is a bit off right now! I’ll be updating it with screenshots tomorrow and each day after, so it will be easier to follow the results and all the changes I’ll be making.
Feel free to ask any questions as we go through this follow-along. Like I mentioned, I’m here to give back to MMO and help out!
You can buy traffic from Pornhub through TrafficJunky.com. Here’s a little tip: focus on high-traffic sites like Pornhub, RedTube, YouPorn, and Xvideos. These sites usually have better quality traffic than smaller, spammy sites filled with ads. Plus, when you find something that works on these big sites, it’s much easier to scale up. If you find a winner on a smaller site, scaling it up will be a lot harder, or maybe even impossible.
