MMO A&P Should I concentrate on making apps or on SEO?

I launched a travel app about a few weeks ago and shared it on most social media platforms. I also sent it to 3 startup directories.

So far, over 4,700 pages out of around 10,200 have been indexed, but most are about fancy restaurants in different cities. The app is still in beta, and I’m the only developer working on it. The main travel planning and itinerary features will come out in a month or maybe 7 weeks, which will focus on real travel users.

Right now, when I search for the app’s name on Google, the first 10 results are links from Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and the startup directory. My website only shows up on the second page, and the meta description shows the About page, which is kind of funny.

By the way, I don’t want to add my app to the main startup directory until the main travel feature is ready.

My questions are:

Is it normal for new websites to do this? Should I just wait, or is there something I can do?

My app also has a blog section where I’ve posted about 12 blogs so far. But only one of them has been indexed, even though they are pretty good. I’ve written similar blogs for a client, and theirs get indexed in like 6 minutes and start showing up in search results the next day.
What can I do to help Google index my blogs faster? Or is it just something I have to wait for?

Do you have any other tips to speed up indexing, especially for a travel app? Or should I just focus on finishing the travel features first?

Thanks a lot!

Actually, doing both at the same time is a smart idea if you want the best results. It helps if you have a little money to hire someone or some really good friends who know SEO and want to help just because they like you. If you don’t have that, it’s better to focus on making your product and only post new updates now and then. At least until your main features are finished. Either way, good luck with your app!

To sell something well, the product has to be ready first. I believe it’s better to focus on making a good product before trying to promote it. When your product is really good, promoting it becomes a lot easier.

Thanks, buddy!

Right now, I’m doing SEO and tech stuff for a client while also building my app as a full-stack developer.
If only I had a bit more time!
